And, now as ever, our culture is a critical element as we seek to thrive through the energy transition. Our culture revolves around taking a collaborative, problem-solving, entrepreneurial approach to addressing our customers’ most important needs, which has driven the development of our platform. OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR EMPLOYEES:

In order to achieve our mission to meet the current and evolving needs of our customers, we have implemented a set of core commitments to our people and our culture that will enable our success. These include:

Operating as a Purpose-driven Team.

We have built a team culture that supports and rewards trust, accountability, partnership, and fairness – where people get great results from knowledge-sharing and being treated with respect.

Fostering a Collaborative Environment.

Buckeye has developed a culture that is team oriented in every sense. Idea-sharing meetings across the ranks are routine, pulling together employees with a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets to work together on strategy and performance solutions. We look for people who want to communicate new ideas and put them into action throughout the organization.

Providing Opportunities to Align Skills and Interests.

Buckeye places an emphasis on career-pathing for employees, by continually aligning employees’ skills and interests with the organization’s evolving needs and providing impactful training to help employees excel in their roles and grow professionally.

Pursuing Projects that
Allow for Growth.

At Buckeye, we innovate, solve problems, and make breakthroughs. We are attracted to challenging projects that move beyond the status quo.

Buckeye’s leadership team is visible, accessible, and engaged, which demonstrates not only their commitment to the success of the organization but also the value that they place on Buckeye’s employees.”

Promoting Inclusiveness AND BELONGING

At Buckeye, we stand together to drive change, including the buildout of an organization that values all backgrounds and perspectives. We take a comprehensive approach to bolstering our inclusion and belonging efforts with oversight and support at the highest levels of the organization. Our four areas of focus are operating as a purpose-driven team, fostering a collaborative environment, providing opportunities to align skills and interests, and pursuing projects that allow for growth.

Our commitments, which begin with a purposeful talent acquisition strategy that focuses on sourcing and recruiting qualified and capable candidates, are carried throughout our organization in the form of recruitment initiatives, employee resource groups, ongoing efforts to ensure fair and equitable compensation practices, and more. We see each of these commitments as important to the growth and development of our employees on an individual level, but also as critical to our success as a Company.

Career Stories

Demetres Whymns

Senior Instrument Technician
Freeport, Grand Bahama

As a Senior Instrument Technician, I ensure the proper operation of equipment at BBH and oversee the smooth day-to-day functioning of the E&I department. I’m honored to work alongside skilled and dedicated colleagues. What I value most is our ability to rely on one another. Teamwork is the foundation of our department — we operate like a well-oiled machine, learning from each other’s expertise to tackle daily tasks effectively. I enjoy the daily challenges that push me to continually improve. Each task gives me the chance to learn more about both new and legacy equipment, while gaining valuable experience in maintaining these devices. I also appreciate the trust, training, and support leadership provides, which empowers us to perform at a high level. Buckeye is a place where safety always comes first. Knowing that my well-being is the top priority motivates me to perform at my best. Beyond safety, leadership fosters growth through continuous training and learning opportunities, making Buckeye a leader in empowering employees.

Randy Reyes

Maintenance Technician II
Corpus Christi, TX

I work as an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician at Buckeye Partners, where I maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment to help keep the plant operating safely and reliably. I enjoy the variety of work because every day brings different challenges and opportunities to solve problems. What stands out most about Buckeye is the teamwork and willingness of everyone to help each other learn and succeed. Safety is a big part of our culture, and it’s something that’s genuinely practiced every day, not just talked about. It’s a place where people work together, look out for one another, and take pride in doing the job the right way.

Joel Wright

Technician II
Long Island, NY

I am a Technician II in the East Region. My role is vital to the reliability and safety of transportation of refined petroleum chemicals. I am tasked with the unknowns of troubleshooting mechanical & electrical elements that both need a lot of attention.

In my role, my most exciting project has been replacing the sensors inside the storage tank leveling system. It took multiple days and a crew of 4-5 guys to completely replace the 65ft long sensor. My favorite aspect of my team are the members at the facilities I serve and the camaraderie among the staff when a major issue is resolved and services restored. It’s a testament to togetherness and competence.

During my interview, the current Technicians pledged to train me, and that, to me, was my golden ticket. The Buckeye culture is mostly brotherhood and looking out for each other’s safety.  Buckeye has a very robust safety culture; I have an obligation to stop my work at any moment under uncertain circumstances. Working for Buckeye is an opportunity to work with an industry leader in across many sectors in energy- one that commits to continuous growth and alignment.

Joshua Mitchell

Technician III
Mechanicsburg, PA

I am a Technician III in the Mechanicsburg Asset Team. I would consider the role of Technician for Buckeye as critical for safety, reliability, and continuous operation of the pipeline. We regularly interact with the Control Center, and most of the time, we are the first call and responder to operational issues on the pipeline. Responding to and addressing equipment malfunctions or issues in a timely manner makes a difference in whether the pipeline can move product to its customers, who supply the needs of transportation and home heating.

After spending almost 30 years in a manufacturing environment, I really find working in the Oil and Gas sector enjoyable. It is a completely different environment. There are very real consequences to mistakes and failures. Personally, I like the responsibility, and I have found that everyone I interact with at Buckeye prioritizes the safe operation of the pipeline and the people. The Technician role at Buckeye requires an individual that is self-directed and motivated. I enjoy this aspect and the responsibility that comes with it. Buckeye has a long history with many experienced, long-tenured employees that I have found to always be willing to answer questions and help whenever necessary. Safety is a priority, and I do not believe anyone feels pressure to do something with which they are not comfortable. I like the team aspect and small company-feel at our local level.

Matthew Hoots

Technician III
Hammond, IN

As a Maintenance Technician for the Indiana and Chicago Complex, my job is to keep Buckeye’s regional assets running safely and reliably. Day-to-day, that means managing everything from routine PMs and system upgrades to major capital projects and emergency callouts. I view myself as one vital gear in a massive network. Buckeye is full of exceptional individuals who take immense pride in their craftsmanship, and we all pull together as a team to accomplish the same collective goals. We work hard, but we laugh a lot and always have each other’s backs when the pressure is on. I enjoy being able to bring a specialized skill set to the table every day. There is a lot of pride in keeping pipeline movements, rail yards, and truck racks operating flawlessly. You directly see the impact of your skills in our operational excellence.

Being a part of a self-led workforce management gives us an incredible level of trust and respect to execute our daily goals, and that freedom is easily my favorite part of working here. The freedom to be entirely self-driven. Micromanagement simply doesn’t work in this Technician role, and in all my time at Buckeye, I have never seen it. They treat you like the professional you are.

Matthew Dean

Technician III
Chattanooga, TN

I am currently a Technician III. My experience with Buckeye has been exceptional. I feel respected, not only in my role, but also as a person. The people, culture, and overall company dynamics are truly outstanding. The culture at Buckeye not only supports the company’s goals but also prioritizes the well-being of its employees. Open communication is expected, and collaboration both within and across teams is highly encouraged. This approach fosters an environment where, as an employee, you feel valued and respected by both peers and management, which motivates us to perform at our best. At Buckeye, hard work does not go unnoticed. It is recognized and often leads to recognition and growth opportunities. Buckeye takes a different approach compared to other companies in this industry. Employees are allowed to develop at their own pace, with support and guidance provided all along the way. The company encourages growth without pushing employees too far outside their comfort zones. This approach has produced strong results; employees are genuinely qualified for their roles rather than simply filling positions. If you are seeking more than just a job and want a fulfilling career, Buckeye could be the right place for you!
